throwing something away
is different to having it stolen;
i understand your mourning
your entreaties to some ancestral policemen
who like their earthly counterparts
have neglected to return to you
what is rightfully yours.
having something stolen
is different to throwing it away;
you don’t understand the desire
to start running and never stop
for long enough to put down roots
and dig toes into the earth only long enough
to spring forward again.
you have a shrine in your mind to those who came before you;
i have an abattoir for the very concept of them.
