I come from granite: unyielding and everlasting
Born in the heart of incandescent turmoil;
I ran to limestone, so changeable that
even rain wears grooves in it.
My blood runs down from slate, blue and beautiful
And the perfect place for writing
My blood runs down from clear chalk streams,
the tool with which we write;
I come from legend, where the granite peaks grow poetry
I come from limestone, where languages coalesce at the mouth of a river
I have chalk and slate in my veins
But my voice is silent
And I am forgetting from whence I came.
